D6 (Article 15) Visa Question
Hi everyone. I am a British citizen married to a Portuguese national. We have a 6-month old daughter together who holds Portuguese and British nationality through birth.
My wife and daughter are living in Portugal, and I am in the UK. I am planning to join them in Portugal as soon as possible. I have also been offered a job in Portugal, which is great news, though I need to obtain the right to work in Portugal. I believe that the best way of doing this is through a D6 (Article 15) visa given my family situation. The job offer will remain until the end of July 2025, and I fear that I will run out of time to secure the visa ahead of this date.
I have tried and tried to contact AIMA to schedule an appointment without success. I have an appointment next week with VFS Global in London to try and make some progress. I hold a temporary visa (as I stayed in Portugal for more than 90 days for the birth of our daughter last year), though this visa will expire on 30 June, and it does not give me the right to work.
My wife and I have been married for just over three years, so I am eligible to apply for Portuguese nationality, which I am in the process of. However, I know that this process is very slow, and I need a quicker fix.
Any advice on how I may be able to accelerate the D6 (Article 15) visa process would be greatly appreciated please.
Thank you.
