Worng or not?

Hello I was recently playing through the rdr2 story mode again. Just before the infamous mission were Arthur and his horse dies, I went to a stable and switched my favourite horse with a cheep one. Is this worng or should I have gone through the emotions of loosing my horse of 200+ hours? Any thoughts?
