Etsy Digital Store & TurboTax
Hello everyone, thank you for having this helpful thread!
This is the first time filing my taxes in Canada. I have a small digital Etsy store, only made a couple hundred bucks in 2024, and I was under the impression I could use TurboTax for integration with Etsy so that it pulls all the data from there.
I have a few questions, though:
-
I'm married, my husband already started his taxes, wrote me down as the spouse, but I don't yet now what net income I had because I haven't connected TurboTax to Etsy yet.
-
While he's filing, will we generate two returns or do I have to do my own return separately? I think you're supposed to file individually even though you're married (as listed on the government website), so would it be easier for me to start a separate return and add his net income (he's a standard employee with a T4), then try to connect my Etsy shop to TurboTax to find out what my income is? I sound super ignorant... I'm quite stressed at the moment. I can only download monthly invoices and monthly CSVs from Etsy, but there's no total or clear breakdown in the CSV.

I made about $64 USD on Upwork last year, I have a report called RDPO 2024 where I do have net earnings, fees, taxes, but they're all in USD. From what I know, there's no TurboTax integration for Upwork, so can I manually convert this USD to CAD and add it to some form?
Any reply or advice would be greatly appreciated. I honestly want to be as thorough and truthful as possible so that the data is not misjudged as incorrect. sorry for any errors or ignorance! 😔
