Considering going NC w/parents
The issues started long before that, but the day my child was born (about a year ago)was the inflection.
We told them that we’re not having anyone at the hospital, but they showed up within 25 minutes of the baby’s birth. I didn’t let them in, so of course the verbal abuse
Once we got home a couple days later, we invited them to come meet the baby, we were ignored. A couple weeks later they sent a group text asking us to bring the baby to them. We said we’re happy to have them over, but would also like to discuss what happened at the hospital. Ignored. 9-10 months went by and we didn’t talk to them. Finally, at the beginning of this year, I decided to put stuff behind and reached out and took the baby ti them. Then took the baby to visit one more time, still only us are making efforts.
In the span of the 9months, we had baptism and didnt invite them. Invited my siblings and one of them said if her mom is not invited, she’s not coming and then text me the worst abuse imaginable(including calling my the n-word, my wife ugly, and some rude shit about the kid).
Recently went to pick up my other sister who was in town and the mom came out and told me to get off her property and yelled at me about a lot of stuff, but the main thing seemed to be that she is very angry that I’ve been in contact with her parents(my would be grandparents). How dare I and without her I wouldn’t know them…etc. I left confused because I thought we were ok before that.
I reached out to dad to find out what is going on, so we met a couple of weeks later. He told me all of her grievances, including that we took away her opportunity to be grandma, we did introduce the baby when we went to their house( not sure what that means because we handed the baby to them), we saw her parents over the holidays…etc. His advice is to not interrupt her when she was yelling at me and verbally abusing me. Also, email her to apologize(she blocked my number). She told him it’s because I call her drunk at 2:00am( never happened).
So, at this point I think we should move on with our life and go NC. Do you have any advice? Thoughts on the situation?
