The Room Behind the Wall (Psychological Thriller / Mystery)

They always told me the house was built in 1972. Single floor, three bedrooms, one basement — simple. Until I ripped out the drywall in the basement to install shelves and found a door.

No handle. No hinges. Just a rectangle, carved so precisely into the concrete you’d think it was decorative… except it wasn't.

I told my landlord. He said nothing like that existed. Told me I was "probably tired" and should "get some air."

But the next day, the rectangle had a doorknob. An old brass one, with fingerprints on it. My fingerprints. I hadn’t touched it.

That night, I heard scratching — faint at first, then desperate. Nails clawing at the other side. Whispers.

I tried recording it. Nothing showed up on the audio.

Then I got an envelope in the mail. No return address. Inside was a single polaroid: me, sleeping in bed, with the door wide open behind me.

I’ve tried sealing it, painting over it, breaking it. But it always comes back.

Something wants out. Or worse… something wants me in.
