Does Nationality Matter? (I’m Egyptian)

I’m 22 , a recent Electrical Engineering graduate, and I’m excited to begin my Au Pair journey! I’ve always been drawn to experiencing life in the West — not because I reject my roots, but because I believe real understanding comes from living somewhere and seeing it firsthand. I’ve had friends and partners from Western countries, and I’ve always connected well with them, probably because of my personality and mindset.

That said, I know that perceptions of nationality can sometimes be complicated. I’m confident in who I am and where I come from, and I hope to be welcomed with that same open spirit. I’m curious to hear from other au pairs or host families: how much do nationality or cultural background really matter in your experience?
