494 on aamc fl4, 1 week out!
Hi everyone, happy Sunday. I just wanted to rant a bit about my current experience and be a bit vulnerable since it’s really hard to explain this to my parents and siblings who are just really supportive and know that I’ll do great even though it’s not showing in the work that I’m doing. It’s not really a vent, and i’m not angry haha but this flair works the best!
This mcat process has really been so crazy for me! My goal score continues to be a 515 but I understand that it’s probably not achievable currently. My plan to apply this cycle really depends on this score, and my consistent scores under 500 have me planning another year out.
I was at a plateau, but my last 3 fls have increased little by little which I am really proud of (besides fl4, my brain fog was crazy due to my PMS symptoms) but still not above a 500. I’m really proud of my cars improvement and little improvements in the other sections.
Anki is really difficult for me to be consistent at (like maybe this is an undiagnosed ADHD problem. I’m not sure) so I’ve been mind mapping a lot to try to keep up with repetition of content recently and I wish I started this approach a lot earlier. I guess I underestimated my symptoms a bit since reading about other people’s experiences has made me reconsider how those tips would’ve helped me earlier in my studying.
I’m still gonna test this weekend, I owe it to myself to stick through since I already rescheduled once.
How do you know whether or not to void the day of the test? There’s no way that I can retake before applying confidently this cycle and due to my aspirations, I understand that it would be a lot easier in an MD program than a DO which I know regularly takes a bit lower MCAT scores. I also don’t have crazy stats.
I hope everyone is taking it easy, I have a vacation planned a bit after the score for my test day is released so whether or not I void, I’m already doing the mental work so that that score doesn’t affect my vacation.
If anyone wants to dm for advice i’m open to chatting. 🫶🏽
