Are twins and solar eclipse/ bloodmoon linked?

So I’m new to the game and in my first play trough right now, today the twins spawned, with a bloodmoon. I didn’t manage to defeat them, but they spawned again later with a bloodmoon (Killed one, other fled) and after that a solar eclipse. Is that just a crazy coincidence or linked in some way
