Request for my college tests
Hi, everyone! I'm a high school graduate '24 from the Philippines, and I stopped for a year due to my mental health and ultimately because of our financial means.
I also tried to applied to universities in the US, and im the first one to do so from our school— hoping that I could get a full-ride. But I guess my profile is weak so I got rejected by them.
Right now, I'm planning to start my college here in the Philippines. However, each college has their own test you have to pass in order to get in. Each of them requires a fee on average of 500–600 pesos or around $10.
If about my family, my papa is 64 years old and has stopped working. My mama wasn't been able to finish even her 1st grade so it's hard for her to get a job — they require at least elementary graduates or high school. Papa and mama can barely read as well so I always have to teach them when answering forms for social services, in news, and in general comprehension for everyday tasks. I grew up with two of them selling ulam (dishes) to neighbors just in front of our house. And we were able to survive because of that.
Right now, my siblings (im the youngest) are only working together to cover all of us because both of my parents are now unable to work with their age. However my 3 siblings are also in financial crisis and they don't really show willingness. (They didn't finish school as well.)
Working students here isn't relevant as well unlike in the US. They want full time workers. And require 18+
I'm clueless on what to do; it's hard to get out of poverty. It's like a trap. How people can get out of here when the necessities to rise also require money? A comfortable shelter, quality education, nutritious foods, access to technology (e.g. computer, laptop), and basic healthcare — essentials for rising and development, all require money.
So I searched and found this and I'm just really here to ask for help. Any amount would help me. Hopefully, targeting at least 2 schools to take my tests. If any is willing to give more, I would really appreciate it.
