How do I get rid of clank sound?
So I’ll give my setup first. I just bought my first bass guitar to add to my music I record at home. A Sterling Stingray 24CA, 2 band EQ. The treble nob is raised a bit and the bass nob is lowered a bit. I like that tight low end sound with a nice mid high cut in the max. Volume nob all the way up. No bass amp. I’m just going direct into my interface and adding a SansAmp, Compressor, and EQ plugins afterwards.
Strings are 45-100, just the standard stock strings it comes with. The style of music I play is a mixture of hardcore punk and sludge metal. I tune to Drop C. Also I play with a pick. Currently trying out Dunlop Jazz III XL’s from a variety pack, thickness is 1.14mm.
So I’ve got a clank sounds when I play. I’ve tried controlling my picking style to go a bit softer and that seems to work a little bit, but not all the time. Any advice?
