Golf club rental + course access

My golfer dad is visiting for 3 weeks in June from halfway around the world and would like to spend his free time golfing. I don’t know squat about golfing, how access to courses work etc. but would like to create some options for him. Should he carry his own clubs or rent here (suggestions on where he could rent from?) What are some easy courses to get into to pay-to-play without a membership? I live in the Heights but will put him in Ubers or drive him wherever.
