I gotta Ask this because i'm fed up with AR loot

So i played many countdowns, open some exotic chaces and got some shitty damage AR's compared to mine, i rock the same AK-M which was looted from a Stronghold boss, it Has close to 135k damage. As i said earlier i played many countdowns and highest damage exotic AR was 98.8k even with a loadout which Has equipment that upgrades my damage. So is this normal that those exotisc or even high end AR's that i get are low damage?
