People with first names that are also surnames, does anyone ever assume that your first name is your surname??
My name is part of that trend of Irish surnames being used as first names for girls in North America. I work in a retail store where I wear a nametag. I’ve had a few interactions where customers read my nametag and say something like “I know some [my name]s, are you related to So-and-so?” The first time it happened I was confused for a second but then realized that they must have been assuming that the name on my nametag was my last name, so I replied “no, this is my first name” and the guy seemed surprised and confused. This has happened a handful of times and the customers are always older men, so I just wanted to know if anyone else has ever had anyone assume that their first name is their last name 😅
