Questions about some elements of the story (ending spoilers)

Alright, english isn't my native language (I'm a baguette), and I don't post often on Reddit.

!I absolutely loved Clair Obscur. It was an amazing game, and as an aspirant artist, it resonated with me quite a lot on many aspects of the story. I think it's an impressive game, and a 10/10 for me, on many aspects (combat system, creative boss fights like the Lampmaster or the Serpenphare, beautiful narration, the list goes on). But I have some questions about the endings and their repercussions, and about some lore informations I could have missed. I love the two endings, and even if Maelle ending is the bad ending, it's still a heartbreaking and beautiful ending, even if it's in a twisted way. The Verso ending is absolutely beautiful too, and made me shed a tear, while making perfect sense for the character. Seeing the canvas and their people getting erased to ensure the Dessendre family to move on was as heartbreaking as it was beautiful. And if you're looking at the story from a "meta" aspect, it was the perfect ending possible. But what I'm wondering, is what about the people in the canvas ? Yes, they were basically not real and just creations, but they felt... like sentient beings ? Was their suffering, their hope to create a future for Lumiere and next generations, their battle against the painters, for nothing ? As much as I love the meta aspect of the story, I would have love to see more on this dilemma. Especially because while exploring, I found Verso journal, and got particularly struck by the "we deserve to live, we deserve to exist". And in the first place, can the canvas exist without a painter inside of it ? That's questions I've got in my mind and I could have missed the answer. !<

!That's a bit of a stretch to talk about it because the game just released, but hey, I tip my hat to Sandfall if they're planning a DLC focusing on this thematic. To find a way for the people of the canvas to live their lifes while letting Maelle go back to the real world (and deliver Verso's soul) could get me even more engaged in this amazing game. !<
