Ongoing Tingling/Numbness in Foot Arch – No Answers After a Year, Looking for Help
Hey everyone — I had been doing OTF for about 4 years and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, I’ve been dealing with a foot issue for almost a year now that’s completely sidelined me from working out, and I’m hoping someone here might have had a similar experience or any insight to share.
This started after I took a short break from working out while traveling. During that trip, I walked two long days in Keds (not the best choice, I know) and climbed a lot of stairs. Shortly after, I started getting this weird jolting or shock-like sensation when bending over, with the most intense pain in the inside arch of my left foot.
The jolting pain went away after a couple of weeks of rest, but a persistent tingling/numbness in that area has never gone away. It’s worse when I’m barefoot and always there to some degree. I haven’t been able to do OTF or even take long walks since.
It feels like it might be nerve-related, but pressing on typical nerve areas (like tarsal tunnel) doesn’t trigger anything, and I’ve had two EMGs — both normal.
Here’s what I’ve tried:
- 2 podiatrists (both said plantar fasciitis)
- Oral steroids, custom orthotics, steroid injection, stretching, night splint, roller
- Physical therapy
- MRI of foot, X-rays of back and foot
- 2 EMGs
- Dry needling, acupuncture
- 2 chiropractors
- Currently in a walking boot (1 week in) — but it feels worse, not better
No one really has answers at this point, and I’m feeling really stuck. Has anyone experienced anything like this ?
I miss OTF so much — the mental and physical benefits — and I’d give anything to get back. Any help, ideas, or shared stories would seriously mean a lot.
