Discouraging Rabbits
Hi, sort of new to reddit so I may need help posting lol
My dad and I stacked our garden buckets on pallets and empty buckets thinking it would be just high enough for some animals not to get at them. The rabbits still got in and ate everything. I had an outdoor camera and saw them just munching away. I know that there was chipmunks and mice, but they're a little easier to deter. I am pretty short so I'd rather not put fencing around the outside of the pallets if I can help it. I have a greenhouse, but I have plants that spread, like tomatoes, lettuce ect. so not all my plants will survive in it.
I have a pitbull that has caught 2 rabbits already, but I have never had to deal with an animal that just doesn't stay away....I've uncovered nests buried in the same yard my dog is in every day. I just don't get it. My dog is probably the best deterrent, but I don't want to have to....clean up again. I also don't want her to hunt small animals due to training reasons.
Any advice would be highly appreciated!
What I'd like to do:
-Somehow make a removable fencing or block rabbits as easily as possible
What seems to work:
-Rabbit/Animal spray by Safer brand (my hostas have come back!)
-Dog (sort of)
What I have done that doesn't work:
-Made "predator eyes" with CDs and bells
-Spread out my dogs fur after a brush
-Scraping Irish Spring Soap
~Please excuse the mess, haven't had time to start planting and clean up~
