All (Good) Things
I close my eyes and try to feel each word coming from those lips. Words that were once touched the deepest parts of me is now but an echo - familiar, unfeeling, distant
The fire reaching my chest when your fingers trace down to the small of my back is now replaced with stings i feel whenever you pull the blanket you once wrapped me in.
That smell of you that lingers in my head, telling me how much we belong in that moment, has now become uncertainty - not knowing who, why, or even when.
All these memories i’ll look back at with unwavering fondness. Three years with you had me feeling like a girl exploring this maze - some corners holding gifts of newness and excitement. Some pockets can be with unfriendly thorns that often sting.
I’ve loved you - more than you would have let me, more than it hurt.
But as they say, all (good) things come to an end.
