[IWantOut] 27M Construction Manager UK -> Mexico

Hello

I'm a Brit trying to move to Mexico, ideally to Mexico City or Monterrey.

I've been working in construction as a Project Manager for the last few years, and before that I did various design jobs in construction and engineering. I have a degree in Mechanical Engineering from a UK university as well. I would like to continue working in construction, or maybe other related fields like civil engineering etc. I haven't thought about long term citizenship etc because I assume it's much harder to get. I speak Spanish to a high enough level to work, although I have a very strong foreign accent and I'm sure there is a lot of industry-specific terms I would have to learn.

I don't have any kind of family connection at all, although my best friend now lives in CDMX permanently and would be able to house me for the first few months if I move. I have decent savings to cover the consular fees, moving costs and living for a while. But from what I have seen I need to have a job lined up anyway before going, which is the difficult part. I'm not too bothered about wages because construction is low paying in all countries. I would mainly like to know how to look for work while I'm in the UK, what resources to use and how to arrange interviews etc when I cannot be there in person. I don't know if it is even possible, as many companies I know would not want to deal with the hassle of hiring foreign workers.

I don't have a time frame, I know it will take a long time but it is worth it for me as it's where I want to live.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.
