Rocco, 13 year old miniature schnauzer/cairn terrier mix

Background of health conditions:
- diagnosed chronic rhinitis, cause unknown
- medicated 1 alternating antibiotic, prednisone every other day to keep nose infection at bay
- diagnosed after ophthalmology specialist, nose scope, and oncologist ruled out nasal tumors and more. Took about a month and a half to come up as idiopathic non fungal chronic rhinitis
- extreme allergies, has been on apoquel for years
- slight heart murmur diagnosed at 9 years old that has not progressed as of last vet visit Wednesday 

Current situation:
- began having dry skin on his belly that I was monitoring 
- on Monday last week he had a small patch of hair shed off his back, less than a dime size, that was red and scaly underneath, immediately called the vet and got it in Wednesday
- vet took a sample (still waiting for results) and said it’s obviously a skin infection but could not determine what it was yet until we get results
- said it was NOT ringworm 
- could be food related, allergies, a bite, something worse (didn’t want to scare us but said it could be staph due to prolonged antibiotics)

Medicines prescribed:
- new antibiotic nightly and medicated wipe morning and night

We are calling the vet tomorrow to show that it has grown slightly. Unfortunately I was out of town and my husband was taking progress pictures which is hard to tell, but it does appear less textured and drier, but still slightly larger than before. 

Anyone experience something like this before? I adore and trust our vet, but now that I’m back in the country and seeing the progress since I left I’m worried SICK.
