Intracept - Completed
Hello - I am a 36 y/o male who has been struggling with back pain for the last 3 years.
This journey has included tons of PT, injections, a micro-disc at l4/l5 and couldn’t quite solve for the pain. Additionally, I saw a McGill expert as well as a Mackenzie expert… nothing.
After reluctantly seeing a pain management doc, I thought they were just going to push pain pills on me. My doc looked at the mri from a different angle and noticed the modic changes and my symptoms aligned with vertobrogenic disc pain. My symptoms included forward flexing areas, washing hands at the sink, unloading the dish washer, holding a golf club, lifting anything from the floor.
I had 4 doctors verify that this procedure was right for me as my insurance wouldn’t cover it.
The cost of the procedure was $15,000. 10k for the surgery center, and 5k for the doctor.
The surgery was insanely easy, I felt a little tender at the incision sites, but never needed to take the pain killers. As of today (8 days out) I am happy to report a 50% decrease in pain. Getting in and out of bed is painless, and washing my hands at the sink is much easier. My body is certainly still guarding, but I was up and about the day of surgery.
I was told the magic really happens at the 2-3 week point, so we will stay patient.
As of now, I have no regrets and thought the procedure was fantastic.
Stay tuned and I will keep you all updated.
