Baby cries when put down

My 5 month old cries if I put him down. He used to chill awhile but the past month if I’m not holding him (or his dad or grandma) he cries. It makes it difficult to get things done. Lately I leave him to cry 10-15 minutes but just started this. I know he’s not sick or in pain bc the second I hold him it stops. Half the time there’s no actual tears either it’s like he’s fake crying?

Anyone experience this?
