Soon it will be beach weather in northern Florida where I live, and today I lit LAFCO’s three wick Sea and Dune candle. What are your favorite beach inspired candles? Personally, I don’t care for the smell of coconut, but I’d love to hear others chime in.

If you’re craving the scent of an upscale beach house without the hassle of sand in your shoes, Sea & Dune by LAFCO delivers beautifully. This scent is very inoffensive, and I think for that reason it would be great for gifting. I can’t speak for their smaller wicked candles in this fragrance, but the three wick certainly delivers. This candle feels aquatic and clean. It opens with a fresh, airy blend of salty marine notes, softened by a “delicate hint of dune grass” (or so, according to them— I’ve lived in Florida my entire life and can’t recall sea grass ever having a fragrance) and sun-bleached driftwood— salty, fresh, and slightly woody in the base. It’s not your typical tropical fruit or coconut-heavy beach scent — this one leans sophisticated and clean, evoking a breezy coastal retreat with white linen curtains billowing in the wind. Think spa on the beach, where someone is playing music that sounds like a piano being tuned.

The throw is moderate to strong; within about 30 minutes, it fills a medium-sized room with a serene, almost resort-like atmosphere. The wax (LAFCO’s signature soy blend) burns cleanly and evenly, and the thick, handblown glass vessel is stunning — definitely the kind you’ll want to repurpose when the candle is gone.

Overall, Sea & Dune is perfect for those who love subtle, elegant coastal fragrances that don’t veer too sweet or artificial. It’s one of those rare candles that manages to be both relaxing and elevated, making it ideal for bedrooms, bathrooms, or any space where you want to channel seaside calm.
