Husband keeps getting frustrated when our baby gets fussy
Sorry for the rant…
My baby girl is 3.5 months old, I often do more things for the baby because whenever my husband does help and if she gets fussy he gets frustrated with her. Like he gets frustrated when she is tired and crying. Gets frustrated with her if she’s drinking her bottle and smiles and gets distracted, and also gets annoyed when she’s squirming around while he’s holding her.
Like yesterday he put her down for a nap while I was pumping, and 5 minutes in i heard her screaming, which she never does! I went in the room and he said she was kicking her legs and squirming too much while he was trying to put her to bed, so he swaddled her tight then laid her on the changing table for a bit because he said she needed to lay there until she stopped. I told him she probably wanted her hands free (she’s in the middle of sometimes needing to be swaddled but sometimes not) and that making it that tight probably hurt/she didn’t like it. And he just said he didn’t do it too tight. (I know he probably didn’t mean to hurt her, and maybe he didn’t- but once i loosened the swaddle and held her she fell asleep almost right after.)
She’s not a very fussy baby but has moments like normal, and he gets very annoyed if she ever gets fussy. Sometimes i need the help and it makes me scared now when i ask him for help because of how he responds.
Ive told him she’s just a baby, and to be more patient with her because she has no other way to communicate, but he just says he doesn’t like the way her fussiness makes him feel.
He’s usually such a calm guy that doesn’t ever get annoyed or mad with people, but recently he’s just been this way with the baby. He acts normal at home with me and with friends, and if the baby is happy he is too… but the second she isn’t he gets frustrated…
I don’t really have a question… I just don’t know what to do in this situation, because no matter what i say he doesn’t seem to understand and still gets mad.
