New girl in the office
Just started a new job and I always find it interesting to see how people treat me before and after they find out my age. I have a baby face, blue hair, and joking/happy-go-lucky demeanor. I also just finished this college degree (my second bachelor’s) so I’m new to my field.
The woman who shares my office, I would have guessed was maybe early to mid 40s. She was chatting, mentions she’s 50, and says people always assume she’s younger than she is. I said “yeah I can relate, people always think I’m younger than I am!”
She says “realllllyyyy????” in a skeptical tone. I tell her to guess my age, and she says “I’d give you about 22.” “Yep, I’m 30” 😂
Another coworker who I’d guess is max 40-50, was complaining about aches and pains and says “you’ll understand when you’re older.” I mention that I’ve had chronic pain for about 15 years, she doubles down. I say I’m 30, and she says “yeah you’re just a baby.” That one just felt condescending 😅
