Guide: How to 100% fix the Forged Letter bug on Steam/Xbox with console commands w/o disabling achievements

Hi,

As many probably experienced the Forget Letter bug on the Taking Care of Lex quest, here is a simple solution for it using console commands without disabling achievements.

1. Download the Oblivion Remastered Universal Achievement Unblocker from Nexusmods. (Put the dll file in the folder as described on the website, this will allow you to use certain console commands without disabling achievements).

2. Locate the input.ini file in your Oblivion Remasterd folder. (For xbox pc is was in C:\Users\YourUsername\Documents\My Games\Oblivion Remastered\Saved\Config\WinGDK)
   and add the following lines:

[/script/engine.inputsettings]
ConsoleKeys=Insert

(This will make the Insert key open up the console)

3. Use the following console commands:

Altar.Cheat.AllowSetStage true
(This command allows you to use certain console commands)

player.SetStage 00036334 40
(This command completes the current step in the quest and you will get a quest pop-up + find the forged letter in your inventory.

4. Enjoy the rest of the Thieves Guild questline!

You can clear your .ini file, remove the dll file etc afterwards if you want.
