Question about reptiles in school years.

Hey, So I want a reptile. I am thinking about either a snake or a gecko (I have a 2ft by 2ft by 4ft high enclosure) So for geckos i was thinking any of the NEWCALs or snakes any of the tree boas/pythons(if their are other options let me know) But I am curious what you guys opinions are on which are the easier pets. My family goes on vacation consistently enough that I would like a lower mantinence pet. (im also posting this in r/geckos for equality)
