Roadies is now more about GL's rather than the contestants.
Been a Roadies fan for a solid 7 years now. Weekends used to be the highlight, tuning in to see fresh faces, unique personalities clashing and collaborating, the thrill of the tasks, and the genuine journey of the contestants. Back then, the drama was primarily among the contestants, with the Gang Leaders (GLs) guiding and mentoring, not constantly at each other's throats. There was a sense of respect, and the bias wasn't so blatant that it overshadowed everything. But something has drastically shifted, especially in the last couple of seasons, and this year feels like a whole new level of disappointment. Roadies has become less about the contestants' journey and more about the Gang Leaders' drama. They hog all the screen time, constantly bickering, and honestly, it feels like even the contestants don't hold them in high regard anymore – and frankly, they've earned it with their behavior. This year's "twists and turns" feel less like strategic gameplay and more like the show itself is playing games with the contestants. The mass eliminations we've seen lately – 7-8 contestants gone last weekend and another chunk this time – it's just brutal and feels completely unfair.
I understand the theme is Double Cross, and I'm all for contestants having the opportunity to double-cross each other – that's part of the game! But why does it feel like the show itself is double-crossing the very people we're supposed to be invested in? Where's the focus on their individual journeys, their resilience, their growth? It's all become about the GLs' egos and manufactured drama.
As a long-time viewer, it's disheartening to see what Roadies has become. It feels like the core essence of the show – the contestants' struggle and triumph – is being sacrificed for cheap thrills and constant GL squabbles.
