Amazon Zoox DD
Hey, just published a new deep dive on Amazon’s investment in Zoox and how it fits into the company’s long-view infrastructure play. Posting here to get feedback and offer a different angle that’s often missed (more than just prime/aws/kuiper/ads)
Zoox isn’t just about robotaxis. It’s a fully autonomous, all-electric platform being built from the ground up, no steering wheel, no driver’s seat, and no pedals. This is not a retrofitted vehicle; it’s a ground up, systems oriented build.
Most people treat Zoox as a moonshot. But we think it fits Amazon’s broader strategy more closely than it’s given credit for. The same way AWS quietly became the backbone of the internet, Zoox has the potential to become the infrastructure layer for how goods and people move through cities over the next decade.
There’s also meaningful progress happening now:
- Commercial service has already launched in Las Vegas
- Permits are in place for expansion into multiple cities
- Fleet production is scaling with a manufacturing base in Nevada
From a valuation perspective, this may be just a cherry on top for now, but this TAM is massive. This remains especially true with Amazon's ability to use ZOOX for prime deliveries, Ads, and Data.
If anyone wants to check out the full writeup I would love some feedback!
