My Experience With the Saviors Tour Project (Project Featured on this Reddit a Year Ago)

:discussion: Discussion

I’m sharing this to express my experience with the Saviors Tour Project Discord, which was featured here about a year ago. I'm not here to start drama—just to tell my side, which was never heard.

I was banned from the server after posting about how much a Green Day crew member meant to me. Yes, I know that doesn’t involve the band directly, but I actively engaged in Green Day-related conversations on the server. For context, I’m on the spectrum. Yes, I shared admiration for him a few times and vented during a difficult time in my life, but it wasn’t constant. Each time I was approached about it, the concerns were vague—I was never told exactly what was wrong. Ironically, other users often expressed intense admiration for band members without issue.

I wasn’t just a passive member. I went to several of the listening parties, contributed to Green Day-related conversations, and even posted concert-exclusive photos from the Event Shop and Instagram Stories. (I still have a Google Drive link if anyone’s interested.)

At the time, the server felt like one of the only safe spaces I had—especially since a longtime online friend (who was also a moderator) was part of it. I now recognize I was emotionally overwhelmed and leaned on the server more than I should have. But like many fans, I was looking for a connection—not trying to cause harm.

Since then, I’ve taken a break from Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok for five months and spent a lot of time reflecting. I’ve realized that fandom can become unhealthy if it consumes your identity—but it also depends on how you’re allowed to express your admiration. I wish someone had taken the time to ask what I was going through instead of making assumptions.

Seeing how widely the project was shared—including here—makes me feel like my experience should count, too.

Thanks for listening.
