Oh, The Glorious, Chaotic Control Freak (Who Isn't!)

Oh, The Glorious, Chaotic Control Freak (Who Isn't!)

So, life throws you lemons, right? A daily dose,

Like stepping on LEGOs with bare toes.

Your coffee spills, your Wi-Fi's a mess,

Your patience dwindles, causing much stress.

Your boss sends an email, late on a Friday,

My weekend is ruined! your brain wants to say.

Your trousers rip, right down the backside,

You feel the urge to just run and hide.

The image suggested, quite wise and profound,

Control your reaction, keep feet on the ground.

It's key to your happiness, all that you chase,

A calm, collected, utterly serene face.

But my face? Oh dear! It goes red like a beet,

My internal monologue is far from sweet.

A stubbed toe? A yell! That could wake up the dead,

A traffic jam? Grumbles fill up my head!

Someone takes my parking spot? Oh the humanity!

My reaction goes from zero to pure insanity.

My carefully planned dinner goes utterly wrong?

I might just weep loudly, singing a sad song.

This 'controlling response,' it sounds rather grand,

Like holding a wild tiger within your own hand.

My tiger's a toddler, quite easily vexed,

By minor inconveniences, severely perplexed.

But wait! A small thought begins to arise,

Perhaps raging wildly isn't that wise.

It doesn't fix coffee, or mend the torn seam,

It just makes you feel like a hot, angry stream.

So next time a minor catastrophe's near,

Before I unleash my internal fear,

I'll try to remember, though it feels strange and new,

Just breathe... maybe count... and not turn bright blue.

It won't be perfect, I'll likely still sigh,

Or mutter just slightly beneath a wry eye.

But less fiery explosions, less dramatic falls,

Might mean more happiness, answering life's calls.

So here's to us humans, imperfect and bold,

Whose reactions are sometimes quite a sight to behold.

Let's practice some calm, though it feels like a quest,

And give our poor, palpitating hearts a nice rest!
