[TOMT][book/legend][??old] fictional tale about a man who marries an identical triplet who laughs at funerals?

Been thinking about this for years but unable to find, its a tale about a man who falls in love with a woman who's an identical triplet, and he's only allowed to be with her if he can identify her out of her other 2 sisters. In order to do this he breaks her shoe strap and meets her the next day so he can tell which one is which.

The next day he meets them, correctly identifies her and then is allowed to be with her. The woman then warns that she will be a horrible wife because she laughs at funerals (and other odd stuff I think?). The man doesn't care and ends up with her anyway, and from what I recall it doesn't end well. Any ideas??? It has some weird fantasy/fairy/witch vibe to it but I've no idea where I've got this from
