Internet Help with my PC

I’ve had my pc for around a year, so far I had to make internet work with a WiFi extender and ran a ethernet from the extender to my pc. The ping is awful and I expected it. What are other recommendations to stop this, Ideally would not like to run a massive ethernet cord throughout my house as I’m in an upstairs room and my router is on the main floor. Don’t think the powerline adapters would work as each thing is on a separate fuse panel. I’ve looked into “travel routers” that can be client routers and it seems like it would work but rather would have expierences.
