I've always found Bari Weiss insufferable, but her latest *The Handsome Face of Terror Apologia* stands out even by her standards. Weiss published her piece in response to the NYT's *A Progressive Mind in the Body for the Manosphere*, an exposé regarding Twitch streamer Hasan Piker. For those unaware, Hasan is a 33-year-old Turkish-American born in NJ and raised abroad. He later returned to the US to attend college at Rutgers and currently lives in Los Angeles. Piker has gained an audience of over 2 million on the platform, primarily comprised of young men in their early 20s to mid-30s.

**Photo Selection**

Let's start with the photo chosen by Ms. Weiss. Hasan is shown wearing a red keffiyeh - a traditional Arab headscarf, often worn to symbolize solidarity with the Palestinian cause. This may (somewhat reasonably) give the impression that Piker is very religious or at least a practicing Muslim. *He's not.* Piker drinks alcohol, eats pork, etc. Well, perhaps he has "conservative" views on women's rights or LGBTQ+ issues? *Nope.* Hansan considers himself an intersectional femimist and his dog Kaya (partially shown in the second photo) is often cared for by her "gay uncles" (one of which is Hasan's friend and co-streamer Austin).

Compare the photo selected by Ms. Weiss to that one used by the NYT and another from his recent interview of Vivian Wilson (Elon Musk's estranged trans daughter).

**Allegations of Anti-Semitism**

I don't want to write too much since this may be deleted, but Weiss accuses Piker of anti-semitism due to his criticisms of the Israeli government, particularily the *\~17,000 children killed by its bombing campaign*. Additionally, Weiss entirely omits Piker's support of and friendships with anti-zionist American Jews like Sam Seder and Simone Zimmerman. Finally, she misleading cites comments Piker made while watching a video showing a group of West Bank settlers ---*that were stealing from aid trucks meant for the Palestian population*\---as if they were directed at all Israelis or Jewish people generally.

**TLDR: Bari Weiss a racist hack. Hasan ardently condemns anti-semitism and credits author Norman Finkelstein as the foundation for his views regarding the conflict.**

Not sure if this fit heres, but since Bari Weiss has come up on TNL, I'll give it a shot.
