This blogger also thought it looked to be inspired from an even older painting: Just A Car Guy: the album cover art of Crush, by OMD (also known as Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark) was based on an obscure 70 year old painting also it's kind of off that's how they spell "maneuvers" in their name.
