Amsterdam in July?

Hi all! I (28F) am in the process of planning my first solo trip to Europe. The only time I could get off work is in July, which I know isn’t ideal because of the heat and because it’s peak tourist season.

One place I was hoping to visit is Amsterdam. However, I’m a bit worried it’ll be a bad idea due to the crowds. What are your guys’ thoughts about visiting Amsterdam (& other areas in the country (day trips)) for 3-5 days in July? Is this a bad idea?
