Culver City Commute: Seeking Neighborhood Advice for a 27F
Hey everyone,
I'm a 27-year-old female currently living in DTLA and, honestly, I've enjoyed parts of it. The central location provides great access to other LA areas, the newer "luxury" buildings are nice, and having a Whole Foods nearby is a definite plus. I also appreciate the walkability, although it's often overshadowed by the homelessness and crowds.
However, I'm starting a new fully on-site job in Culver City soon, and the potential commute from DTLA is making me reconsider my living situation. My current twice-weekly commute to Playa Vista already leaves me feeling pretty drained. While the Metro could alleviate wear and tear on my car, I'm also a bit unsure about its safety.
I've been considering a few neighborhoods and would love your insights:
- Santa Monica: The nightlife and proximity to the beach are appealing, but I've heard it's not very diverse and can be overrun with tourists.
- West Hollywood: I've lived here before and enjoyed the walkability. However, the lack of easy freeway access was a constant frustration, and it sometimes feels geared more towards influencers and/or the LGBTQ+ community (though I'm an ally!).
- Culver City: This area seems safe, diverse, and happening, but it also appears to be quite expensive. I don't know much about the vibe beyond that.
- Playa Vista: I love how clean and aesthetically pleasing it is, but it seems like it might be more geared towards young families rather than single professionals.
Considering my upcoming commute to Culver City, do any of these neighborhoods stand out as the best fit? Are there any other areas I should be considering? Since I don't currently have friends in any of these locations, finding a neighborhood where it's relatively easy to meet people would be a huge bonus.
Any advice or personal experiences with these areas would be greatly appreciated!
