3 month old with NG tube getting hungry and crying
My 11-week-old daughter is being fed via NG tube due to concerns about aspiration. She started exclusively feeding via NG tube only a few days ago and it has been a struggle. I thought that it would decrease my anxiety around her feeds, but it has done the opposite, because whenever she gets hungry, she cries but she doesn’t calm down when we start to feed her because she doesn’t understand that she is being fed. She cries until the feed is basically over, which feels like forever. And like, scream crying. I feel like I’m torturing her and it’s awful. So to avoid that, we are feeding her more frequently than we usually do so that she doesn’t have a chance to get really hungry. But that means that I’m pumping around the clock because she its exclusively fed using breast milk right now, as it’s the best thing for her and it is the safest thing to aspirate.
If anyone has any suggestions or words of advice, I’m all ears. Or any words of validation or encouragement would be nice too. This is really hard.
