Is 13 hours too long to leave a new cat alone?

New to Cats/Just Adopted

Hi everyone, a friend of my mother is trying to catch/rehome some stray kittens, and I have been thinking about adopting a cat for a few months. I have a 1br apartment and work from home 3 days a week, but the other two days I'm gone for almost 13 hours.

I might be able to get family to come check on them if that makes a difference, but I don't know if that would be more stressful or what.

With my first cat I was still living at home and so there was always someone a room or two away at most, so it wasn't an issue. (She's still there, I just moved away and she didn't)

If it's not a good idea I'll just survive on pictures and visiting home; I would rather not adopt if I'm not ready, but I would really love to have a little buddy or two.
