The loneliest I've felt in years

I remember a time where I was completely alone, longing for any form of genuine human connection. Every attempt at climbing the walls I had erected around me seemed to result in falling into a deeper hole than I was in before.

Fortunately, this time has long gone by. I have people who I can count on, a comforting lack of existential fear, a backpack of experiences which made me more resilient to the cruelties of everyday life - or so I'd like to think. If I was religious, I'd feel blessed.

And yet, I feel how my perception of my life is shifting again. The walls which I believed to be broken down are creeping up again. I'm watching myself slowly getting wrapped up in a vague feeling of detachment, losing my sense of being connected through the world around me.

I need to learn to fly again.
