Why does my crush, who rejected me, want me to be friends with a guy I hardly know and met?

Me and my crush had secretly liked each other for about a year and we were just about to hit it off until I got transferred to a temporary job at a different location that would last a couple of months. We didn't have contact between that time since we never exchanged contact information but when I came back to my original job, I made a move on her only to be surprisingly rejected. Since then, she's been polite every time we interact, but she gets nervous and remains distant and I could tell she sometimes becomes a little uncomfortable whenever I'm present around her. I found out from someone else that she started dating another guy that I know in our building, but he works for a different sector, while I was gone and most people thought I was gone forever when I got temporarily switched to a different position, so that seems why she rejected me and why her behavior has changed. She seems to be happy now, since she's always bursting with positive energy whenever I'm not around her.

As of now, I'm starting my out-processing of my place in our building and will be moved to another branch at another state. And just now there's this brand-new coworker who she's been working with recently, and the two seemed to be getting along quite well from what I've seen so far. And my crush, along with a couple of other guys who I work with, are saying that me and this new guy are quite similar and would make good friends, although I honestly don't see it. Just about two days ago, as I was getting my out-processing paperwork completed with my supervisor, she and the new coworker passed by the office and she was happy that she found me and stated that me and this new coworker should hangout sometime and get to know each other, she then walked off quickly as soon as she said that. I quickly dismissed it but this got me thinking; why would she go out of her way to set me up as friends with this new guy. Does she still care about me and wants to make me happy in some sort of way? Or does she genuinely like this coworker and wants to make him happy instead? This new coworker has a girlfriend of his own btw.
