Neuropathy symptoms after eating

Type 2

Hello. New guy here. 66M, has type 2 diabetes for approximately 15 years. A1c would normally run between 7 and 8 if I was behaving myself. But I love(d) beer, pizza, nachos, all the carbs.

2015 I have back surgery for pinched disks. Told I have arthritis which could continue to aggravate me. Have a curved spine which makes pinching nerves more common than average person. But shortly after that surgery I started feeling numbness/tingling in the toes and balls of both of my feet. It's been that way since.

Fast forward to now...for reasons I won't bore you with I stopped drinking alcohol, lost 15 pounds, and am taking my cholesterol situation seriously. I eat very healthy with a rare cheat day.

Last night I had spaghetti, meatballs, and two pieces of cheesy garlic bread. A lot of food and a lot of carbs for what I am used to the last 7 months. When I went to bed a hour or so later my feet were really bothering me. Tingling and pin-prick sensations. The last time it happened I had a similar cheat night with more carbs than usual.

I'm wondering if it's diabetic neuropathy symptoms from a sudden influx of carbs. I've been so good about controlling my diet in both the cholesterol and diabetes area that I'm thinking my body reacted like it was an overdose.

My last a1c was 6.2, I'm on 1000mg er metformin, but also on Rosuvastatin for cholesterol (which is new-er to me and is known to cause muscle/nerve issues).

Any feedback would be appreciated,!
