Hasan is disgusting.

It’s wild that Hasan acts like Ethan saying Jews fled to Israel because of antisemitism is somehow racist, like he’s blaming Arabs. But that completely misses the reality. The Jews didn’t just flee from Arab countries they were fleeing from everywhere. Europe, the United States, the Arab world, as sad as it is to say, no one wanted them.

In 1938, the world’s major powers met at the Evian Conference to address the growing refugee crisis under Nazi rule. Of the 32 countries present, only the Dominican Republic agreed to take in a significant number of Jewish refugees. The rest democracies included made excuses. They closed their doors. Canada famously took in only 5k Jewish people.

Afterward, Hitler mocked the international community, saying: “We are only doing what the others are doing, but more thoroughly.” Nazi propaganda celebrated Evian as proof that the world didn’t care about the Jews. One German newspaper headline read: “Jews for sale—even at a discount, no one wants them.”

That’s how abandoned they were. Zionism wasn’t just an ideology it became a last resort. Jews didn’t all go to Israel because of some grand colonial project. Many went because they had nowhere else in the world to go.

To deny that to erase the global failure that helped push Jews toward Israel isn’t just historically false. It’s morally bankrupt. And it reduces one of the darkest moments in modern history to a political talking point.
