US-based IP address?
It kind of just dawned on me that my P2 (LRSM) might be using a US-based IP address for navigating the internet.
I’ve read in the past (and just confirmed doing a quick search in this subreddit) that the cellular data uses a US carrier (from what I read, it’s AT&T). I am in Canada, so it means that my car is basically roaming all the time.
It really doesn’t affect me at all on a daily basis, and I wouldn’t have noticed otherwise, but today I was waiting for my wife outside of a store, and I thought “let’s watch something on prime video while she comes back”.
I’m re watching Suits, which is available on Prime Video here in Canada, but when I opened the app, I didn’t see it and couldn’t find it, so I thought “did they remove it overnight?”, so I opened the app on my phone and it was indeed there.
So it just made me think, that the car then must be using an IP from the US, doing a quick search I see that Suits is only available on Netflix in the States.
Again, not that it matters, just found it curious, and doing some quick research, it seems that when devices are roaming, they don’t always use an IP from where they are, but from where the carrier is located.
Anyways, not a rant or anything, just wanted to get my thoughts out there, I’m not an expert in this topic so just found it interesting!
