Is this evidence as to racial divide in Canada is still well and alive today?

Discussion

This is absolutely anecdotal experience but imo the experience is uncanny so wanted to share somewhere.

My family is originally an immigrant to Canada, many decades ago. Non-white. I left Canada 8 years ago to live in Japan with my wife and children. I still go back once a year or two. Every time I'm happy to see people of all races interacting.

Recently I flew back to Toronto for a work meeting. I was at Toronto Pearson airport and decided to use the Airport lounge.

At first, I used a generic Sky Lounge that was offered via Priority Pass because Maple Leaf lounge wouldn't let me in at least 2 hours before my flight.

Very racially diverse set of customers at Sky Lounge. Just like the streets of Toronto. Like maybe 30% white people?

Then when the time came, I went into the Maple Leaf lounge.

Holy moly it is 99.9% white people! In fact, I hadn't seen that many white people in one room in Canada in a long time - the only other time being when I travelled to bumfuck nowhere town with my friends. I think my family and another South Asian family were the only 2 families out of 200 that were non-white.

Then later I got on my flight and again, it's back to a mosaic! So I went into a room from 30% white -> 99.9% white -> 30% white in a matter of hours.

Now, you might be asking - why would that show a racial divide? Well, it's really hard to get access to Maple Leaf lounge compared to Sky Lounge in general. Priority Pass provides lots of access but Maple Leaf lounge isn't one of them. You usually have to have some kind of flight status or fly business class.

Anyways, that was so uncanny and unexpected that I just had to share it somewhere. What do yall think?
