Kamikochi in mid-May. Will tennis shoes be ok for easy hikes?

Visiting Kamikochi in mid-May. Seems it will still be cold, but springy. I see YouTube videos also from May with lots of hikers wearing regular tennis shoes and the ground looks dry. But I’m worried melting snow will make it very muddy and wet?

Will regular tennis shoes be sufficient in mid-May for easy trails (Taisho pond, Myojin pond, etc.)? I don’t want to pack my hiking boots unless absolutely necessary.
