Is it illegal to shit in a dumpster?

A friend of mine was driving at night and all the gas stations were closed and needed to use the washroom. He decided to stop at a closed gas station , jump inside a dumpster , opened a empty box and took a shit in it. Unfortunately, he accidentally fell into it and he got it all over him.

Was it illegal ?
