Almost 10k water bill in two months.
Please don't post this on any other social media platforms. Thank you!
My monthly water bill is usually between 400 to 600 pesos but in February, it popped to almost ₱5000. I reported it to my apartment caretaker, who forwarded it to the landlord, who offered to cover the investigation and repair but will not shoulder the bill. The landlord managed to send a repair man who "fixed" the problem. As for the bill, I shouldered it. Fast forward to March 14th, the water bill came and it is still around that amount (₱5k-ish). This led me to believe that the actual problem, which appears to be a leakage along the hose of the shared valve of the toilet and bidet, was not properly fixed at all leading to the same problem.
I informed the caretaker once again and they offered to repair it again though the repair man did not arrive to check it out until the 29th of April. They recommended a bigger scale repair that they can't handle at this time, so no repair took place yet.
I also can't get a straight answer whether they are going to cover for March's bill. I kept following up on this and to this day, I have yet to get a straight answer as the caretaker only kept telling me that they are going to cascade the follow up to their landlord from their end.
-Update as of 05/04/2025: Caretaker told me that the landlord is not willing to take responsibility of the second instance of the overwhelming bill. Sabi pa ng landlord (through the caretaker) ako na daw bahala kung itutuloy ko pa yung upa. They said this nung first and second instance.
I have also asked for the landlord's direct contact info from the caretaker but they refused to provide it so I have to rely on the caretaker to forward my pleas to the landlord.
---What is my best course of action?
Background:
-Apartment to sya.
-Direct sa Manila Water ang tubig.
-I've called Manila Water and sakto naman sa kanilang end, no leakage or clerical errors whatsoever.
-I have paid 1 month advance and 1 month deposit in December 25th 2024 and started paying my monthly dues beginning January 25th. Now I'm a bit over 1 week behind sa payment since di ko na sigurado kung kaya ko pa mag stay for another month.
-Landlords are currently in a different region.
-From the beginning of the rent wala kaming: Shower (lahat ng other units meron).
Yung sahig namin sa cr sobrang dulas dahil nasstuck yung tubig. Palayo yung tubig sa drain kaya kada gamit pahirapan mag drain. Sobrang hassle. Brought up nung first day, never been fixed.
-No bidet and toilet flush for around 2 months na.
-2 years lock in period. If aalis ng maaga before ng 2 years lock in, terminated ang 1 month deposit in favor of the landlord.
-This is the exact same reason na umalis yung previous tenant. Mas malaki pa sakin yung water bill nya. According sa caretaker naayos naman daw. Okay naman yung bill for the first few months then ayon.
-Ever since cinlose yung valve for bidet and toilet back to normal yung water bill kaso may 5k outstanding parin sa water bill.
-I have the money to suck it up and pay for the bill but that doesn't mean na hahayaan kong abusuhin ako at yung future tenants ng ganito especially na ganito din nangyari sa last renter.
-Walang maayos na fire exit (kinakalawang at sobrang tigas na di na mabuksan) and fire extinguishers (none) yung lugar.
At this point, what is the best way to deal with this before or after I go?
