How can I be the world’s most difficult employee?
For context, my company has laid off about 80% of my office in the last 6 weeks. 3 rounds, and 2 of them have been furloughs. They have no intention of bringing anyone back and are utilizing furlough to avoid liability under the Warn Act. Basically, they’re waiting people out because most people can’t go without work months on end. The company is owned by a private equity firm and this is a known tactic that they have used at other companies.
I am the last man standing out of the three departments that I work with; everyone else is gone from the layoffs. People who have been with the company for 10+ years? Gone. The firm members and partners regularly scream at employees and have created such a hostile work environment, it’s almost impossible to work. I have not yet been a victim of their screeching but I’m waiting for it.
Now, a bit about myself. I am independently wealthy and can handle unemployment for any period of time without any disruption to my lifestyle. This is important to note because I don’t care if I lose my job due to my attitude, actions, or otherwise. I am absolutely furious about the way this company has handled the layoffs of my wonderful and hardworking coworkers, as the firm is sneakily avoiding laws and absolutely not acting in good faith.
How can I become the WORST and MOST DIFFICULT employee they have ever encountered? It’s a hostile work environment and I’ll do anything (that’s legal of course).
I don’t think they’ll let me go quickly unless they go under. Unfortunately, I have a job that directly impacts profits and I’ll be a bit hard to replace because there cannot be a lapse in my position.
I’m open to suggestions and I can’t wait to put them to action. Gimme your favorites and I’ll report back.😁
