Looking to get a mini barrel for my husband (to finish an already made bottle of whiskey). Looking for advice

6th wedding anniversary and the theme is “wood.” He likes good whiskey and I’ve read the at home whiskey barrel kits kind of suck. However, if you buy a nice bottle of whiskey and just use a mini oak barrel to FINISH it and add some flavor, that can be successful in a few weeks.

Anyone do this? Have specific mini barrel suggestions to buy?
