advice needed - Anyone have artificially increased ferritin due to inflammation?
My ferritin in March 2023 was 75, with a CRP of 1. In May 2023, My ferritin was in the 90s, but my CRP rose to 1.9.
As of March 5th 2025, 2 years later, my ferritin is 66, and my CRP is again, 1.
I'm dealing with Long covid, gut dysbiosis and suspected sibo, and through research, I've come to find out that gut inflammation can seemingly "inflate" ferritin levels - Is this true?
I think a naturopath I saw called it functional iron deficiency. I love to hear anyone's story of something similar happening to them. I have cold extremities, worsening brain fog, and fatigue that seems to get worse and worse every month. my doctor doesn't want to give me iron injections because my ferritin is seemingly high enough, but it's clearly dropped by 10 points or so within a 2-year period, and I suspect it's probably dropped lower, but is maintaining a higher score due to my Low-Grade inflammation.
can anyone confirm that something like this happened to them????
